Founded in 2005 as part of the Faculty of Medicine University of Maribor, members of our institute have since tackled many open questions in the field of physiology and in teaching new generations of scientists and health professionals.
Research
Our team effort is focused on answering open questions in the field of physiology, especially in research of pancreatic Islets of Langerhans. We use state-of-the-art imaging techniques and cutting edge tools from the theory of complex networks to tackle these questions.
Learn MoreEducation
We are also involved in the teaching of physiology to undergraduate and graduate students at the Faculty of Medicine, and in teaching of various physiology-related subjects at other faculties at the University of Maribor, Medical University of Vienna and elsewhere.
Learn MoreCollaboration
We collaborate with other faculties and institutes in Slovenia and abroad.
Among our tightest partnerships are the Medical Faculty of Vienna, the University of Szeget, and the Alberta Diabetes Center in Canada.
Team
We are a multidisciplinary team with members from the fields of medicine, veterinary medicine, biology, pharmacology and physics.
